Instead of a Camphor Tree...?

I have a SW-facing house that gets a TON of heat in the spring and summer. The upper story windows just suck that hot air in. Problem is, my front patio and driveway preclude putting a tree right where I need it to cast shade.

So, I want to put in a tree that will grow very tall but also spreads so that it can be off-center (it has to be, can't plant in the driveway!) and still cast the shade I need. I know it'll be many years before I get the results I want, but better late than never.

I have neighbors with these huge gorgous camphor trees that are exactly the look and shape I want. But they're invasive, aargh! What else is out there that will give me that wide spreading shape?
