Hey there! I've read messages on GW here and there over the past few years when I was googling something- but just recently stumbled on the FL forum and I'm hooked. After I started reading messages a few times a week I figured it was time to join and jump in.

My name is Naomi- I'm in 9b in Sanford (just north of Orlando). I stay at home with my two mad preschoolers and when we are not gallivanting around town we are in the yard diggin in the dirt. I'm married to a 6'7" construction worker who moonlights as an orchid fanatic. I'm crazy for natives and am super into organic, sustainable garden and agricultural practices.

Looking forward to swapping advice, triumphs and tears with what looks like a great bunch!

Hi Naomi! Glad you took the plunge and joined in on the action. This is a great bunch here and you won't regret it. I think there are a few forum regulars in your neck of the woods.

My name is Betsy and I live north of you in Palm Coast. Near the east coast - south of St. Augustine. I currently work fulltime but am losing my job on May 2nd due to a corporate buyout/downsizing whatever they want to call it. I wish I could stay home but unfortunately that cannot happen just yet. I like all that nature has to offer.

Since you 'lurked' for a while, you do know us by now *g* we are a happy bunch ... I am a few miles south of UCF, not really far away from you.

Sheepishly raising hand I had some *ahem* help at the post office from little hands and my address label must have dropped out of the envelope without me knowing it. Sent you an email hon. Heeyy, Deanna! You're sure up late for a workin-gal! LOL Hard to adjust to the time change, I bet! :o) To answer your question, that's a sport of my 'Francee'! She sported one set of variegated leaves one year, and I thought it was just a passing *fancy*, but when it showed up with more of the same type of leaves the following season, I divided it out! It held well, that summer and then I moved it to a bed where it got less sun, unfortunately (to avoid the tearing of the cream margins) and it failed to demonstrate the same vigor and variation. I don't know if that had that much to do with it, in reality, but by this Spring, it had reverted back to mostly the 'Francee' look! One leaf was all chartreuse with the cream margin but the rest were 'Francee' all the way! :o( 'Buff24' found a registered sport, that had the same look as mine, already named-so it apparently is a fairly common sporting habit! I understand, that 'Francee" is fairly prolific in sporting--a *fertile myrtle* maybe? But, then I guess it's not a matter of 'fertility' but mutating, instead?? Don't think I have that understanding down pat yet! Apparently, (according to one of the pics. at 'the Library') the registered 'Fancy Francee' is also very unstable! Vertical- That's not far from where I used to live in Rolling Acres just south of Northmoor off of Hamilton. Being in Peoria, do you work for Cat? Hi Naomi!

We're glad you've come to join us. We all have varied gardening interests and enjoy learning from each other. I also practice organic, and try to get better all the time at sustainable, gardening methods. However, my first love is ornamentals, and I dabble in veggies (inspired by this group). Sounds like you are lucky to have a DH interested in gardening as well. Please feel free to jump in any threads at any time. We will enjoy getting to know you.

Hi, Naomi! Welcome aboard. I live in Sanford, also, Neighbor. There are at least two more of us in this area, too. We will have to start a Sanford Garden Club!
