Thank you so much. I was afraid nobody would help in time. I'll get to it right away. They are already showing a little wilt on the bottommost leaves. I searched and searched for root propagation methods, read one where you cut two slits, read how growers use rhizopon AA for more blooms when transplanting, was going to run to the nursery, they may not have it, and we want bushes and worry about the blooms later. So I'll just do as you suggest and hope for the best. I'll try to bury them about the same level they grew. I don't think you want to put them way deep in the pot, nor too shallow either. I did a lot of reading and searching last night, and it seems fall is the best time for transplanting roses/suckers, but I think early spring should be ok, too. I would, in time like to find out the best way to do root propagation like the old rose searchers I've read about did. It sounds easier than cuttings if it works except I fear most property owners would be more reluctant to let you dig around a rose rather than just take some cuttings.

Okay, First of all, what you have there is a Hoya carnosa 'Rubra' Its expired trademark name is Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess'⢠This cultivar has a tendency to revert to plain green leaves. The vines that have just green leaves will not start producing variegated leaves again. That means that if you did sell cuttings from this plant, you would have two types of cuttings, which would need to be correctly labeled: 1: variegated cuttings = Hoya carnosa 'Rubra' (commonly called 'Krimson Princess') 2: non-variegated cuttings = Hoya carnosa You would not need to root the cuttings. Hoyas are often, if not primarily, sold as unrooted cuttings. But seeing as this is a very common Hoya, your buyer market would be beginner Hoya growers, and they might feel less confident about their ability to root a Hoya. So, I don't know whether you would be able to move them that way or not. To root a Hoya, you just stick it in the medium you intend to grow it in, with one or more nodes (the bumps leaves grow from) underneath or in contact with the soil. Keep the medium moist but not wet, while rooting. It takes around a month, slower this time of year.

Since suckers usually don't have much in the way of roots, it's best to ship them as cuttings. If the sucker is more well established, with a good root system, it can be shipped as a rooted cutting. Submitted by Jeanne

I inherited a mature, overgrown chokecherry years ago when I bought a home in Denver. I ended up cutting it to the ground, then having the stump ground out, then digging out a gazillion underground suckers. Finally got rid of it. Spraying probably won't get you anywhere.
