Gorgi, thanks for the consideration and look forward if and when you have success in getting a sucker. The one i have is almost gone now as the whole top started to dry up and shrivel i cut it down and its only about 2 inches tall but the root system still looks great just refuses to do anything so i let it sit to see with covered dome on it to hopefully further stop anymore drying. I was really hopeing to get some ucdavis cuttings to keep on trying.I might be getting one ischia black sticks from another country in future and keep my fingers crossed i can root it, the more i can get to work with though perhaps one day something i do will work . My intentions afterward would be to totally isolate to not get reinfected by any others and take many many cutting and propagate, who ever would want 1 would be welcome to it. After that i would not isolate the mother plant as an (ADULT) anymore and see how it fights if reinfected as an adult compared to a new rooted one but would always keep a seperate spare one just in case.Thats my goal. I have the time now although even though i dont think this will happen to quickly but im hardheaded in trying to make it work. Im sure this will take some years possibly at the least but i hope to stick around. It did cross my mind to find a lab and send sticks of ischia black so they may do the invitro process which totally rids it of virus by extracing a healthy mersistem which has yet to be infected (its been proven)and i could have such a plant to work with but that im sure is way out of my budget. Some may say and rightfully so why bother with all this problems of ischia type and move on, and i would respectfully say "i cant it bothers me to have not tried". Best Health Martin

Thanks to all who posted. I realize that this tree will be a challenge in my area.Someone has helped me and i can't find all the words enough for him but he knows i think its much appreciated. I do enjoy a challenge to grow things that should not do well.I have a hibiscus that i cut low to ground and mulch and cover and it looks beautiful last 4 years with nice big flowers. I intend to bring out of dormancy earlier than my other trees and some other idea's i have in mind to see if i can get some figs from this type of tree.Its orgin according to what i have read is near where my wife was born and so i try my very best and will post results along hopefully with some good pictures when the time comes.Im still trying to get fruit from that Bari italy tree as well as that is also special was my dads hometown.Its finally has more figs than previous year but some are dropping when they turn colors, hopefully some of the pinching iv'e done will help if not next year i'll try more things with it. btfig looks like more of the fmv in the picture you posted.I would disgard this tree unless you want threw all your stock.

Hello Kim, You would be right on which ones shows FMV. The FMV shows up with deformed looking leafs,and does not have the nice growth like healthy plants do. Our weather has been great, like you said yours was! Is the little one still propagating various things? That was cute! Cecil
