Piper Nigrum & Strawberry Guava

I just ordered a piper nigrum plant and strawberry guava seeds. Any advice on either of these plants would be sooo wonderful. I'm still acclimating to FL gardening and the tropical plans don't seem to like me yet.
I plan to put the pepper at the base of a queen palm in the front of the house and let it grow up it. The front of the house faces North.
The strawberry guava's I'd like to grow as a hedge down the side of the house on the east side.
