Is Dry Weather the Cause of Fruit Drop?

Annie

I have a little Brown Turkey that is making fruit, to my delight. I recall my Grannie's trees sometimes dropped fruit before they were ripe? Growing up in arid northern San Diego county, the summers were always dry. Grannie ran her gray water down the hill into the orchard to irrigate her fruit trees and grapes, or let a garden hose run slowly all day to keep the citrus trees and figs irrigated.

Are dry spells or droughts the cause for fruit to fall off prematurely? Mine is growing in a 5-gallon bucket and is very healthy. No signs of any problems, and I don't foresee any, but I don't want to lose the figs if there is something I can do to prevent it.

Would appreciate any advice you could offer.
