Any Fourth of July garden/container photos?

Does anyone do any special Fourth of July gardens or containers or porch decorating? I do sometimes, depending on whether we are having company or not. I would love to see photos of what you all do. I bet there are some great ideas out there. In any case, Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans and happy gardening to everyone else! (And especially a belated Happy Canada Day to our neighbors to the north.)

Here's my front porch,taken a few weeks ago.The Uncle Sam on the door has been replaced with a basket of r/w/&b flowers and pin wheels.

If you have the longest canes go up vertically they'll probably sprout horizontal branches going at roughly right angles out to whereever the most sun is. The horizontal branches coming out from main canes can get quite long, 5' or more on mine. They come out at rather abrupt angles and are not particularly flexible, but produce the flowers. So it sort of depends how much profile you want. Hopefully the sunny side is the side away from the house so the laterals grow that way. 50 lb fishing line--is that going to hold up in a strong wind (or a modest wind)? Is there any way you can add a panel of wrought iron extending the height of the handrailing up to the bottom of the balcony? That would give you a lot of support to work with.

The standards are red zonal geraniums, blue lobelia and white bacopa. But any sun loving annuals in that color combo could work.

What terrific pics, pianoman, hoovb and sachow! Intriguing! I wonder if my baby will ever look like that? And I wonder if it will be flexible enough to tie horizontally? I didn't realize it would get that tall and as it is in front of my front deck, I don't want it to get so tall either. I have Illusion planted in front of mine, and am still planning to get a cream or apricot colored rose to go next to Illusion. Hmmm...difficult to get the spacing right. Brandy

Yes, the "waggies" are Trachycarpus wagnerianus. Sorry about that. And Kniphofia is simply the botanical name for "red hot poker". Behind the banana is simply "redtip" Photinia, growing as a semi-hedge to screen the property next door. I'm not especially fond of this plant but it's evergreen, has decent folaige and is tough as nails, and helps give me a little bit of privacy. My yard is actually quite small, and ends about 2 feet behind the banana. Meanwhile here's another photo, this time of a daylily. This is 'Kindly Light', a spider-flowered daylily, and I find that this kind is especially well suited to a tropical-style garden. In fact at first glance you might not even recognize it as a daylily.

That big uncle Sam is reversible.When i turn him around,he's a rabbit.Got him at a yard sale about 3 or 4 years ago for 3.00.I love it.

You can't beat that--two for the garage sale price of one! I am surprised that so few people seem to decorate for our biggest summer holiday and nation's birthday. But I bet everyone was at a barbecue or swimming or something and not sitting at the computer!

Wow, Michelle, both are terrific but I really love this year's, including the container. Is the red flower a double poppy? It is great with the delphinium. Really says Happy Fourth of July, literally and florally!

Ginny ,i'm not Michelle,nor do i pretend to be her!!!! But the blue is Lobelia,the red is a geranium,i'm not sure what the green spotted plant is.

Ginny, those are annual poppies.
In the second picture the green spotted plant is annual hypoestes also known as polka dot plant. You are probably familiar with the pink one.
