Postal Happiness -my last orders arrive

HURRAH!!! Two joyously plump boxes were practically purring on the step today! I got my last two orders for this year, which included :

Broadway Charmer, Border Blessed, Primal Scream, Supermodel, Tornado Bird, Raspberry Griffin, Painted Petroglyph, and Lemon Parchment. Very excited!

Hurray. Daylily happiness at its best. Now for the soaking and then off to plant. Only thing better is bloom season.

That is exciting! And you got some exciting choices too! Go soak them, so you can plant them, so you can grow them, so they can BLOOM!

We got Black Astrolorp, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Plymouth Barred Rock, White Rock and Buff Orpington chicks. It should split out with 20 to 25 hens and the rest roosters as we were ordered specifically hens in the Black Astrolorp, Plymouth Barred and Buff Orpington. We've got them in the real coop all safely enclosed in a large (about 12 sq feet) cardboard brooder with a 250W red infra-red lamp. Last night I checked them at 1AM and added a touch more heat as the temp looked a couple degrees cool. This morning at 6:15 AM, they were happy as could be... guess they like their new home. I grew September Morn in the mid desert in SoCal for many, many years as a budded plant from the nurseryman who reintroduced it into commerce. I didn't prune it heavily and it was as happy as any of the other of the twelve-hundred or so roses there at the time. It IS prone to mildew, no matter what HMF says. I never had it grow larger than about four feet high and not quite as wide. I would have expected it to develop into a larger bush being budded, had it wanted, but it never showed the proclivity. Kim

Hi Jo, you are right, they look like being handpicked. This is the best mail order I ever got. I potted them yesterday and they had such good roots and also new eyes in waiting. And an amazing good size for really not much money. After a two day journey they came out of the parcel as if nothing has happenend:-) Frisian Waving Steel has a flower to show, pretty colour :-) The wheather was grey when I potted them so nicer pictures will follow when the sun is shining. And Bridal Falls is in a 35 cm pot, so you can see how big the leaves already are.

I have a gorgeous jade glazed pot traveling from Arizona, so some of these will be in the seaweed resort for a few days till it arrives. I can't wait to see Primal Scream and Supermodel in person. :)

I like to see peoples's order lists as well and Google ones I haven't heard of since there are so many out there, I always find beautiful ones that I didn't know existed.
Lemon Parchment is a very pretty color and it also is supposed to have a pretty high bud count, so we'll see! :)

Anna..I've heard recommendations to soak for several hours or overnight, but I have done a few days with no problems.

Wow, that is a great box of daylilies. I just planted Primal Scream, and can't wait to see it too!! I usually soak for one or two hours. I may have to look up the others.

Hey, Cindy :) I went for Gossards. (Supermodel, Tornado Bird, Raspberry Griffin ) for lots of blooms and cold hardiness since I need them to overwinter in containers. We'll see how they look!

You won't be disappointed, I'm sure of that. I love my Gossards and at this point, can't imagine a year going by without my ordering at least one more. They've all been super performers here. (Ignore the fact that I seem to live in zone 10; I don't. I was just playing around one day, and I keep forgetting to change it back to zone 6. At least it no longer reads zone 50 heh heh heh.)

OK, then!.... I'm still waiting to receive FIRE FOUNTAIN, from Solaris Farms. I have no idea when it will arrive, and I haven't bothered contacting them to find out. They're in Wisconsin and will ship when they can. Who knows...maybe it'll arrive today or tomorrow. But since I'm STILL planting today and am going on what will amount to an all-day garden tour tomorrow, next week is perfectly fine, too.
