Hello bakerchic, Can't help you with the Gophers but if you go to the local garden center they will have something to get rid of the moles. I can't remember the name or brand but you put in the spreader and spread it like you would when you fertilize your lawn. I used to have this problem ( Moles ) a few years ago and it really wasn't that hard to handle. The product is a granular and it irritates their skin. As for the Gophers, My only suggestion is a 12ga.! If you have to resort to using a pot then a 10gl. or 15gl would be ideal. Not too large and easy to move. A good potting mix with added perlite is recommended. If you use Miracle Gro then it already comes with the fertilizer. But many of us here are not big fans of Miracle Gro potting mix. Some figs have a crop which forms on last years wood (breba crop) and figs that form on wood that grew this season (main crop). Some have only the first crop, and some only the second. Mission has both, but not many brebas in my experience. I would have expected to see small main crop figs forming by now, but keep looking.

I believe it is always best to report when the plant is dormant, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. To tell if the fig is root bound, you can carefully pull one out. If the roots are circling around the pot, they're root bound and should be up-potted. You will eventually need to do so as the small pots you have will not support a decent sized tree. I've read that many people will root prune their figs every couple of years. Mine are in-ground so I do not need to worry about that. Best of luck!

Al Tapla would you be able to tell me what is wrong with mine? I've had this tree four four years and never had any trouble with it but now I am killing it! I wanted it to grow more branches so I pruned it and moved it to a sunny-er spot and added grow lights and started fertilizing more regularly. Next thing I know, it's getting yellow blotches all over the leaves and sometimes red speckles and tiny pin holes. I found spider mites on a different plant, but I couldn't see any on this one, but I hosed it off and sprayed with dish soap in case it was mites. Then the soil was soaked and wouldn't dry and a week and a half later this leaf turned black and dry in the center. I thought maybe it was because the soil was wet too long. I freaked out, so just yesterday I did a full repot (never done this before) and added perlite and orchid bark mix to potting mix to get a grittier faster drying mix. I also cut off half of the leaves. It really doesn't look too happy today (droopy leaves and soft stems and even more red speckling on new leaves) I don't know if it's been given too much light, too much fertilizer, too much water, or is infected with mites, or all of the above. Anything you can suggest? The tiny pin-holes make me think mites are one the table but I hate to stress it out more if it's not that.
