A pic of the leaf and the fig cut open would be helpful. If the inside is dry and full of pollen its a male caprifig.

It is a Female cauducous fruit that need caprification,(polen),from a male caprifig,in order to stay on and get ripe and edible.

I am confused The Orchard man I buy my fig trees from told me that Figs are self pollinating. I have Brown Truky and Black Jack what do I need to do?

Brown Turkey and Black Jack are self pollinating common figs and do not need the fig wasp to produce fruit.

Yes in some locations,as for example it is present at Jon Garden,the author of Fig4fun site.

Herman, I know you can buy some insects such as lady bugs for pollination, do you know if these fig wasps can be purchased anywhere?

For some reason my Panache is doing the same thing as your tree. This is the first year its in the ground too. The breba figs were forming, got to about the size of a quarter then dried up. I removed most from the tree. New main crop is forming so I have hope for some figs yet this year.

Sue - I too have a Panache in the ground for the first time this year. I haven't seen any figs form yet. I also have a VDB fig this year with a small breba crop. They've been sitting on the tree for about a month at the same size and color -- I'm wondering if this tree will drop its figs as well.

All fig trees drop figs from time to time. This year has been an exceptional year for this problem in my area of No. Carolina, probably because of extreme heat and no rain. My Celeste, usually a heavy producer, dropped over half its immature figs. Your unknown tree looks very healthy and there are more figs, so I would venture a guess that the rest will go ahead and mature normally. Let us know what the rest of the season brings. By the way, my celeste figs that remained are smaller than usual, but otherwise they are as good as ever!!

Lady bag will not polinate fig trees?,only the fig wasp.

Main crop and not breba on my VDB -- that makes sense since they are growing along side of the fig leaf! Not sure why I was thinking they were brebas... Probably because I'm a giant fig noob.

If it is Violette it will not drop breba or main crop,you got it made!
