Good job...I like it very much. I can tell it's rebar, but what did you tie it together with? It makes me think of those twig things P. Allen Smith does.

The uprights are rebar -- rebar is iron, comes in different lengths at the building supply.
We used them for electric fence posts. These are 4' long.

The weavers are mostly redbud branches and a couple of pecan sprouts, cut to 6' long.
They're woven in and out of the rebar like making a wattle fence, but farther apart horizontally.

Where the pieces cross, I lashed them with a bit of jute twine tied with a square knot.
If I'd wanted them permanent, I'd have used poly twine or nylon cord.

I've built temporary trellis before in this general area for cypress vine.
Once I had an elaborate 7' structure with pecan sapling uprights well sunk into the ground.
Termites started in and by fall, the wind blew it flat.
Here's last year's sharply curved cedar limb with the end sunk in the ground and the limb end curved over with the vine on it.

I'm staring now at the outdoor shower site, thinking about four 4" square 6' posts with
bright nylon canvas rectangles with grommets, attached with hooks.

Can you tell me more about the Vetiver grass? I looked it up and it says hardy to zone 7b so I could grow it. Where did you find yours? How does it smell? Do you use it around the house?

Vetiver grass -- someone shared some she bought on a trip to New Orleans, several years ago. She said they sold it down there as 'sachet grass' and supposedly the roots are very fragrant.
I seldom dig any and it always just smells 'earthy' to me. Only once in the several years I've had it has it formed any seeds. It dies to the ground here and I leave the dry grass until spring.
The ends of the leaves fall over and twist like a unicorn's horn toward the end of summer, when it is approaching six feet tall in a wet year.
Remind me in the spring to send you some when I cut it back and divide the clumps that are crowding a volunteer dogwood tree.

What I enjoy as an herbal grass is Cymbopogon -- lemon grass.

You're very creative - I like the concept of using what you have and having it look like it belongs there rather than something alien.

I really like that Nell. It looks like something that even I could build ;-) It will be just beautiful when covered with vines.

That is a very clever method of building a trellis. It's going to look wonderful all covered in vines.
