i have seeds from an old heirloom breed of Sweet pea thats pink and purple and smell sweet, i will trade for your Blue moon wisteria

I planted a Blue Moon wisteria about 3 years ago.. it was a 2 gallon size from Steve's Ace nursery in Dubuque.. zone 4/5. I put it in an exposed location in the back yard on a full sunny slope in loamy sandy soil, with some compost mixed in the hole-next to an old unworking gas lamp post. (I wound a wire to the top to lead it up) It has climbed the post and this is its first year of bloom. It's beautiful! With 6 clusters of medium blue blooms around the top and so very graceful. I don't know how aggressively it will continue to grow, or whether it will destroy the lamp assembly at the top. (there is already a bird nest in that) but so far I'm very pleased with this fragrant, easy blooming, easy care vine. (I just water it once in a while) Does anyone know when is the best time to prune this?

Thanks..my bad..they all popped open..omg- just yesterday. I guess I thought something was wrong with them. But it just wasn't time for them to bloom. They are blue moon The other wisteria budded and bloomed last month. I thought something was wrong with them Thanks for sharing the photos yours are gorgeous..and wow sure did grow alot. I'm still learning about Wisteria myself, so I can't answer most of your questions with any real certainty. But that said, I think you would be fine to twine the stems, if that's what you want to do. I'm learning about how to train them into a Tree form, as I'm thinking of trying it. Often those stems are twined around each other - sometimes using more than one variety/color to make an even more interesting and lovely show when they flower. They grow together like this, eventually forming a self-supporting "trunk". There are many pictures on Google Images. The vines seem to gain strength from this rather than harm. They seem very vigorous and hardy vines, tough to kill.
