Araucaria Bidwillii Tap-Root Busting through bottom of container

Those Bunya Bunya seeds I planted two weeks ago are already sending tap roots that are busting through their containers. My question is how deep should the container be to have a healthy plant? I've heard this tree sets up a tuber system underground and has heavy, extensive roots. Some of the seeds I put in One gallon containers and some I put in half-gallon yogurt containers with about six to seven inches of soil. That last container is the one that has the tap root bunching up against the bottom of the container and sticking out through one of the drainage holes. Any input on this?
