Gullywasher in my garden--Link to pics.

Last Thurs. we had a major downpour in about 90 min. Our raingage registered a little over 1 and 1/2 inches.

The rain poured off the road across the yard in and out of the ditch and into the veggie garden. Even our little bridge was under water. Scary lightning and thunder kept me in so I couldn't get "raging water" pictures.

Here's a link DH took the next morning when we could finally get there.

What a scary thing! I can't believe so much of that was under water. We've been having mini flash floods, too, since we were in a drought from last Oct. to April. Nothing that bad, though! I hope you didn't lose too much out of your garden.

Wow, Georgeanne, All those lovely veggies and all that hard work making the beds! My sis was supposed to be in Ohio this week and dh keeps saying it is flooding in Ohio. Somehow flooding in the news isn't as significant as a washed out garden. : ) And to think it was 105 here this weekend.

I don't say this to be argumentative, but personally I'm not crazy about this garden or the inukshuks. The garden is kind of pretty, and probably looks better than most disturbed areas in an urban setting. But in general I would rather see a natural gully with native plants that would naturally grow in such a spot, not exotic plants like Canna lilies and Mimosa trees. Especially a species like Albizia julibrissin which has shown invasive tendencies in Florida and the mid-atlantic states. When I'm out in nature, I want to experience nature - not yet more signs of human disturbance of nature. JMO.

You would have to post that pink Gruss first. I love that one. But they just keep getting better. What a beautiful place you have there! I LOVE the water on the roses, but don't quite understand what balling means as the shot where you mentioned it, the one rose is drooping is can't think of the right word. Glad you got some relief from the utility bill. It's always welcome. I've not run my central air yet, but my gf near St. Louis has, said she starts turning in on in April sometimes.

Last Monday we got over 9 inches in some places in the Houston area. I live 52 miles north of houston but work in houston..It was dry on my side of town, and then I drove into the floods..wow..I did have to go thru some pretty deep water (I went in behind a truck and followed his path) it was the deepest water I'd ever driven in, and hopefully my last.
I am so sorry about your gardens...but some of them still look really nice, although your poor pea and squash garden..sigh!!!

I feel just awful for you!
Our irrigation pump blows a few times a year.
Usually in the middle of the night.

It floods us out so bad,and the neighbors veggie garden too.
The only good that comes from it, is major growth in the things it didn't wipe out.

I hope you recover ok. It's so heartbreaking!
