We planted this beautiful pine this year after falling in love with it at Gee's. Tag said it was hardy to zone 5. Dirr says it's hardy to zone 5. All the websites I looked at say it hardy to zone 5. However, while doing some surfing around this site I found several older posts that say this tree is not hardy in zone 5 and to expect it to have a short life. Am I missing something here? I have always trusted Dirr when it comes to hardiness but I also like to hear the people who have actually tried to grow it comment also.
I plan to apply an anti-desiccant before winter. Would a burlap screen be beneficial in addition (at least until it gets too tall)?
