this is really embarassing as they are not spirea. i should have looked at them. i don't even think there are spirea trees. they are peiris japonicas shrubs. apparently when my hubby told me what they were he switched letters around. easy enough to do. anyway, they are now soaking in the crab.

How exciting for you. They should be fine in water for a day or two but not much longer than that. They need oxygen too not just water. I hope you get them planted on Sunday. Where are you going to put them?

thats a very good question.. i really don't know. my garden is full to heaping and i havent planted 1/2 my winter sown babies. I am totally revamping an old garden i let go while putting in the new beds. so i basically havent touched it in three yrs. i bought a purple rose mallow that gets 12 ft tall by 8ft wide. so I am digging tons of grass out by hand.it's the whole reason for revamping this bed. one plant. i broke the weed eater about an hour a go. didnt even get to use it. i've been working on the same patch for about 6hrs. so we will see where to put them.

That is my absolutely favorite shrub! Congratulations.

Ah, taking out grass - I feel your pain! That's one job I severely dislike. I hope you get yours out and it stays out. You know grass has a mind of its own, don't you? Won't grow where it's wanted without lots of water and fertilizer; will absolutely grow where it's least wanted and will be lush and green despite the fact it's growing in the poorest soil on earth and the dog pees on it regularly. ; )
