White Pine specimen

basic

I ran across this stout old hombre in Pepin County. Its height isn't overly impressive (80'-90'?), but the trunk is about 40" dbh, and I don't think I've ever seen branching quite like this. Some of them appeared to be at least 18" in diameter. Incredibly, it looks like they just buried someone at the base of this tree. There was freshly disturbed soil around the tree and the grave marker closest to tree in 1st pic is only about 3'-4' away and looks new. It'll be interesting to see how it impacts the tree.
