Siloam Dean's Double, first blooms this summer, 3!

this flower finally bloomed this summer eysterday, sorry it had rained all morning so these aren't the best pics probably, but I do like the bright color. Mrs. Henry said she liked this one because it had a lot of "froo froo" as she called it in the double petals.

Should I cross doubles with doubles only? or does is make a difference. I just got in from pollenating in the yard this morning ( what few dl I have, I guess I'm willing to wait 2 years to see what can happen ! :) )

Geee, I wonder why you bought that one? Does the name have anything to do with it? Just kidding its beautiful, the foliage even looks really nice in that last photo, way to go! -Jessica

lisa, yeah it is small, that's because I bought them last year. the label does say TExas Lilac from Morovia plants, mine will eventually become larger and I jsut thought of that last week considering I put it in the front yard like that. the ones I've seen in texas around lake austin grow big and beautiful and bloom regardless of how dry it is...

Love seeing all your Siloams Dean. You've got lots that I haven't seen before. A favorite Siloam of mine had it's first flower this morning. I bought the rananculus bulbs online and put them out a few days before our "last day of frost" April 15th. From there on I just waited for 'em to grow. the ones in sun/partial shade have grown the best. My experiment will be whether I dig up the bulbs for next spring or let them die and buy new ones(they like good drainage and summer and wet rots them according to online stuff I've read. ah well). I also set out some rain lilies to see what they'll do later this summer. thanks for the comments. can't beat double classic for sure. :)

Jessica, I never bought it, it is my name...but yeah, that's why I'm definitely partial to it I guess. :)
I worked in her yard for 7 summers, and believe me wasn't easy work. but I learned a lot! just now getting the time to do something with the few I got to keep over the years...which means more work and making more room for dls. ha.

Dean, I like this one...such rich colors! And the "froo froo" description made me smile. Wouldn't that be a great name for a pretty double intro? I crossed Siloam Double Classic last year with non-doubles because I don't have many doubles. Some of those seedlings were double and some not.
