I don't have many perenials

Well, I actually do have many, many perrenials but I have lots and lots of the same thing. Lots of daylilies, lots of lilies, now lots of iris. I tend to use the plants I have great success with over and over.

And I do have many, many shrubs and I do tend to have lots of annuals for summer color.

I do have milkweeds, butterfly weeds, catmint, joe pie weeds, phlox, purple coneflowers, hollyhocks, ironweed, hummingbird mints, lots of sedums, ferns and some other things growing around here. But the list of common garden perrenials that I tried and that did not work out for me is very long. I see pictures of them on many of the cottage garden pictures posted here at the forum. I planted them and they died shortly or I had them for awhile and they died out. Strange.

Other times things that were common here just got dug up in the garden redo. I had black eyed susans, monarda, goldenrod and others here for years and I am not quite sure whatever happened to them.
