Monday and Tuesday blooms

I had DILEMMA open yesterday but it just wouldn't open all the way. Hope it does better on future openings.

INCENDIARY opened today but the blooms are blotchy. Again, I hope it improves. Both of these were planted last year so they've had time to settle in.

I've got several more with the buds ready to burst and of course the seedlings are opening too but will post those in another thread once I get everything uploaded.

Storms are heading our way today :-(.

BAHAMA BUTTESCOTCH - blooms well above the foliage, really vibrant color this year. This one increases fast so give it plenty of space.

I adore the pattern on Aztec Headdress! Mine had a pattern too this morning, but not as ornate and intricate as yours. Since the pattern is so dramatic, this is my favorite of yours today. But it is closely followed by Cerise Masterpiece, Black Eyed Bully and Bluebird Sky. I had no idea Bluebird Sky was a spatulate. I love it planted with the bee balm. Is that Blue Stocking Monarda?

Cerise Masterpiece--what a flower! Any faults? Marvelous framing of Bluebird Sky. Appreciate the shots at different times of the day, even if only a few hours different. Alas, if more people would post shots in the evening, it might be shocking how badly some things have deteriorated. But I certainly understand: who wants shots of mushy or faded flowers? I do try to comment if something does not hold well.

I think you posted just the right amount. Cosmic Kaleidescope continues to dazzle me with that huge patterned eye. Eyes on the Prize is a real beauty with its dark, dark eye and edge. Heavenly Angel Ice is always gorgeous, but I didn't know it was such an excellent rebloomer. It's good to see your Last Chance for Romance. Mine may be dead. My male cat, Zuzu, took to spraying it daily and all the leaves except one or two in the centers of the fans have turned yellow. There aren't enough leaves to support any scapes, and none have emerged. I think I'm going to dig it up and put it in a pot today to try to save it. Debra

Thanks, Nancy. It has been a pretty good year in a lot of ways. Mantis, I have been very please with Kansas City Kicker. An excellent plant. You asked about Tree turtles. It is as tall as the specs say it will be. (56") It is a late here and while it opens fine in the mornings, The original bloom is very pretty to me, and doesn't resemble what it will look like in an hour or so. Take a look at the very early bloom: But, as you can see, it is a lovely pink and yellow bloom after a short wait and it is an excellent bloomer. kay

WOI has over 22 scapes and is over maxed on its buds. Sometimes the over amount of buds hampers WOI blooms from opening fully. But it is still a gorgeous cultivar. Yes, we have deer. We have temporary fencing surrounding most of the garden areas but if they really wanted to come and take a taste, they could easily jump the fencing. We have alot of open fields so perhaps they have enough to eat...for now. The turtle is still here this morning so we think we may have to get the tractor with the bucket and scoop it up and put in down by the stream. I read on the internet how dangerous they can be if they are threatened so I have no desire to lose my fingers and those claws don't look too inviting either. I have 6 Lambertson's still here. 2 will bloom for the first time this year(WASHED WATERCOLOR,AWESOME APPLIQUE) after 3 seasons. I don't even know if the cultivars are what they are suppose to be. 3 others bloomed magnificently last year(CAVE CREEK CANYON, CANYON COLORS,MESOZOIC MUNCH) after 2 seasons here and increased nicely and then this spring I could already see issues with those 3 struggling. I'm wondering if they lack the stamina to have alot of blooms one season and then come back and do it all over again the next season. The last one is BLUE-EYED BUTTERFLY which does great here. It just started blooming today. PURPLE CROWNED FAIRY died first season, got a replacement and that one died also. I'm not going for a 3rd time. Julia

Great blooms Cerise Masterpiece and Aztec Headress are my favorites. I also have Bahama Butterscotch and I love it, striking color and a little bloom factory what more could you ask for.

I like the way you did the BLUEBIRD SKY picture with it peeking out from the purple bee balm. All very color co-ordinated also :-) My favorite is BAHAMA BUTTESCOTCH, love those warm colors.

Bluebird Sky, just love the color. Any that have that large light green throat draws me like a magnet. Many pretties.

I like double river wye, it was new in my yard this year and it's so small yet such a pop of light yellow color!
I'm going to google the bahama butterscotch now due to the great pic and rave review. :)

Debra: I don't know the name of that particular bee balm bloom as it was in a package of seeds I got from Johnny's which I thought was the red variety. Instead it was labeled Panorama Mix. I'm not sure if in that clump I will see any other colors appear as so far, all the bloom appear to be a lavender/purple color (at least to this old pair of eyes lol). I know the other clump across from this one, the blooms appear to be coming out red/pinkish in color.

Bluebird Sky is registered as a crispate ufo form. I agree it does look more spatulate when you view the pics on the AHS site dictionary.

Black Eyed Bully is that dark of an eye. Amazing when you see it up close.

Hopefully I can get some garden shots soon. Not much now as it is just here and there with blooms and a sea of scapes.

Very hot and humid here and the JP's have made their appearance. Just a few of them. I'm ready with my cup of soapy water and tweezers and just slide them into the cup.

I too love green throats and the bigger the better ;-).

Aztec Headdress is so pretty, but I think my favorite is Black Eyed Bully. I have Bahama Butterscotch too, like you say, it multiplies FAST, & heavy bloomer. Not a big flower, but one I won't be without.

I'm not sure but I think BAHAMA BUTTERSCOTCH may be a build builder. Last year it did it so I'm going to check again this year and see if it happens again.

The best photo here is definitely BLUEBIRD SKY. Love how it peeks out from behind the bee balm. As far as the daylilies themselves, I like that one, ROYAL EVENTIDE, BLACK EYED BULLY, and the pattern on AZTEC HEADDRESS is fabulous.
