Rita, your roses are spectacular!!!! Mine are just starting and will be in full bloom in about 2 - 3 weeks and I can't wait. I lost a few over the winter, the most I've ever lost so the 'show' won't be as spectacular this year. I have to deal with the horrible japanese beetles all summer so I won't be replacing them. I get tired of fighting the beetles because they always win. It's good to see your daylilies are starting up because we are all in for a treat! Everything in your yard looks wonderful, as always. I don't think I have many grasshoppers, at least not so I can see but I do have lots of slugs. I almost never ever stray for insects. I sometimes spray plain old soapy water at the aphids if they get too bad in the spring but thats it. I only spray my roses with fungicide but I did have something handy for the roses just in case I had an emergency on one or something. Thats why I dosed JUNE HUDSON, I couldn't figgure out what it was. Another thing is that JUNE HUDSON starts opening two days before open bloom and the buds open just alittle and alittle more the second day before popping on the third being the real day of bloom. So I think she is especially prone to whatever damage being insect or water damage or what. I am going to move her after bloom to another spot and see how she does next year. I do like the blooms when I see them as they should be.

I am done with my planting. Now I will do some more mulching to get everything ready for winter. There are some beds that were mulched late last year and I have not gotten to mulch again so they need it. The weather has been nice for playing in the garden. As for my Phil Korth daylilies just wait until next years bloom season as I have gotten so many more for next spring. It will be fun to compair the ones I already had to my new ones next year.

Your new blooms are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing back! I don't cut scapes off new plants & ALL of them have been just fine, coming back up with renewed vigour and usually more fans the next Spring. I do not ask the new ones to make seed pods, though, so I do dead head them after I've oohed and aahed over my new flowers *grin* marea
