Himalayan pines

If Chir pine does ok in my area is it reasonable to assume wallichiana would too? Zone 8b. I've read it prefers moist acid soil. Of course I can water during a drought, but my soil isn't ever going to be very acid. Slightly alkaline or neutral.

Some of the other plants its associated with in its native range do well here too. Cedrus deodara for example. But I don't think of those plants as requiring as acid soil.

How would wallichiana's suitability compare with geradiana or bungeana in central Texas?
