help, which evergreen hedge for zone 5?

Hopefully you can help. I have a hedge in the front of my house that looks nice in spring-fall. In winter it just looks like sticks. I would like to have a year-round green hedge planted. What can I plant. I would prefer something that grows fast. I was thinking of holly, however don't think it will survive winter. I would like to attract birds, which is why holly came to mind with its red berries. Not sure if boxwood is a good hedge. I have seen some houses that have these evergreens with berries but not sure if its a holly. What other evergreen produces berries in my area. If there's nothing fast growing I guess I can just wait it out. Thanks for you help.
