WANTED: Pandanus

I'm looking for Pandanus(screw pine)either the green with reddish leaf edges or the green/white variegated. When I was young my mother had a green variegated growing in our dining room in Chicago. It got HUGE. She was forever giving away off shoots. Sort of nostalgic for me. I have various bromeliads for trade if wanted. Don't know their names.

I'm also looking for Pandanus, either sm. plants or I'll even take seeds. I had a beautiful plant when I lived in NY, but left it behind when I moved to Florida. My daughter-in-law took it and slowly she forgot to water it. I didn't last very long in her hands. I've been searching for over a year for one in the big box stores. No luck there.

If you google propagation of Hala, you will get to the University of Hawaii website on native plant propagation for Hala. See web site that follows. http://www2.hawaii.edu/~eherring/hawnprop/pan-tect.htm While the veriagated Hala is not native, it is at least in the same family and should respond in much the same manner. For a plant that likes drier climates, I have found that the Hala seedlings are sensative to too little moisture.

a lady I work with has some small seedlings under her pandanus. I can bring some to Ricky's swap in April if she pots them up for me.
