The Grass Is Always Greener, and Other Lawn Cliches

Nell Jean

This is a two-part question:

What Kind of Grass is in Your Lawn?

and

Do You Want to Do Away with the Lawn?

I was reading a 1995 article about lawns and thought of all the different lawns that members here have.

The best parts of my lawn are Centipede; there is also Bermuda and Bahia. We don't fertilize, nor water. In a drought it goes dormant.

Some Cool Climate Grasses:

Fescue

Kentucky Bluegrass

Perennial Rye

Bentgrass

Some Warm Climate Grasses:

Bermuda

St. Augustine

Bahia grass

Zoysia

Centipede

One Preferred Cottage Look:

No Grass

What makes up your lawn? How much of it are you trying to convert to something else? Do you have grass paths?

Nell
