They're starting to bloom in Nahville

A few daylilies have started to bloom, but it's been a rough spring. Some critter has eaten buds all over the garden. The only animals that have done this before were young cottontails, but something taller is munching the tall spider scapes too. There are no deer around here, so I'm puzzled as to who the culprit might be. I've lost the buds on a lot of my seedlings that would have been first time bloomers and on new cultivars that I hadn't seen bloom before. In addition, several rounds of storms have caused lots of larger scapes to blast. And bud counts seem extremely low on the early bloomers.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN - New from Maryott in the fall. Only three buds on this scape and two on the other.

NUTMEG SPICE has 15-17 buds per scape and is a big clump now.
