How long has it been blooming, Cheryl? I love bleeding heart and have some shade now so hope to aquire one in the future. Do the white ones bloom longer than the pink ones? My neighbor (back in the city) had a pink one that never seemed to bloom very long. Your's is gorgeous. I bet the previous owner hated to leave it there.

memo, my pink has been blooming for a good while. Still blooming some right now, but it is on the downside. I didnt know they could be divided Cheryl. Mine is huge, and needs moved or something. I love your white one. I have never seen a white before

MeMo - This one's been blooming for over a month now and even bloomed through our little "heat wave" we had back in March. There are seedpods forming on it now and if you like I could attempt to collect them. Never tried to get seeds from it before so not sure if it'll work! LOL. I don't know which one blooms longer though.. my neighbor has a pink one and her's started blooming after mine and is also still blooming.

Tammy - This one has a natural division in it that showed up last year when it was going dormant. I do know that you have to be extremely careful when dividing it so as not to damage the fibrous roots. I'm hoping that the natural division it created on it's own will help me to NOT harm it.

kay - Thanks! I have always loved bleeding hearts and how they bloom. They are so pretty and classic cottage plants IMHO.

I love the white one but it always dies out for me. I've tried it at least 3 times. The pink keeps going and is beautiful but the white seems weaker growing in my garden.

I think my white bleeding heart has bloomed for well over a month now and my pink ones have all petered out already. This is the first full year for all of my bleeding hearts, the pinks ones were garden rescues, the white one I bought. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. my plants are not nearly as full as yours in the photo but the flowering display is lovely! :)

I have the white and the pink versions and they reseed like crazy for me. I have to pull out the volunteers every spring because they are such prolific reseeders. The two original plants that came with the house are probably about 4 ft tall each right now and the foliage looks good until August when it gets too hot and goes dormant. I have easily transplanted seedlings and taken chunks off the mother plant and everything lives. It is the earliest thing to show growth in spring, one of the first things to bloom, and goes strong for a LONG time. They like partial shade and slightly moist conditions and good soil to thrive, or at least that is what mine seem to like...

I think my white bleeding heart has been blooming extra long this year. It's gorgeous. One of my favorite plants.

I wonder if we have a different clone of white BH in circulation over here because it's generally recognised as being weaker than the pink. I wish my pink would seed. It barely even sets any pods and even if I protect them and sow them very carefully I've never managed to grow any new plants. I'm jealous.

Wow! I think I'll have to plant some bleeding heart in the hydrangea garden. That's beautiful.

I am jealous..my whites are new starts off my sisters last year and they still have not bloomed. I guess they won't this year :( My pink one has been blooming for weeks.

I was out in a tiny village near here this evening and there was a house (well a COTTAGE really!) with a few plants for sale outside. They had a white bleeding heart. I decided it was definitely an omen and I'm going to try the white again.
