The effect of summer pruning on Chinese wisteria....
Comments (1)Time to move this down.... I would love to see pictures of other people's wisteria trees or shrubs - there's not many pictures out there so we're sort of flying blind on this re such things as ultimate size and options for shaping a larger tree/bush (I see a fair number of bonsai ones but we want a reasonably large one). Last summer we planted a Japanese wisteria (W. floribunda) to see how they compare - that one we'll keep trimmed up higher to better display the longer flower racemes. Show me you wisterias please...?...See MoreFinally Wisteria Buds!
Comments (1)I am not sure if your buds will survive the frost or not. If they are in a sheltered microclimate area they just might make it. Mine bloomed all the way into July last year (although not as prolifically as in April) so even if some buds do get killed off, you might still get a later bloom. Mine look a bit shrivelled now but I have known them to shrivel up then unfurl again when the temps rise. Fingers crossed and good luck! Does anyone know if there is a late blooming wisteria? Mine always blooms way too early....See More10 year old Chinese wisteria tree
Comments (2)Moving this thread down with some more pictures from today: Looking up from weeding nearby (The scent is heavenly...) With a tree peony in the foreground: I prefer how it looks once the leaves start appearing - within a day or two of it starting to flower....See MoreChinese Evergreen Wisteria
Comments (8)Jolana, the link you gave, Millettia reticulata, is the plant I was interested in. The one I listed, Millettia taiwanesis, was a mistake as it is a shrub, I think. I saw one today at the vet's office, and have been hunting for it on line all evening. I was kinda thinking of 'borrowing' a cutting or two, from the one I've found, if it can be propagated that way, but if you have some seeds, I would very much appreciate some. Thanks, Jim...See Morelavender_lass
