Very pretty. I love dutch iris, and my dutch iris are long gone. Your clematis are lovely and I love the blue of the Tradescantia

Hate to feel like a dummy, but what does "OT" mean? lol.

Doesn't Spiderwort (Tradescantia) just light up a spot? It's just a shame that it only blooms one-half of the day. That's not even as long as a daylily!! But I love them anyway. I have blue, white, and pink around my oak tree.

Clematis is soooo pretty!

hong2007, I am not sure if the bridal wreath has small metalic balls, I will look when its done blooming. Ive never really looked after it blooms & they are so small too. I love our tea trees. Our best one died 3 years ago, I replaced it 3 times but they all died, they were always half dead when the nursery got them (special order). Here is the awesome one that died. Forgot the name. tim

Princealbert, you're close, but not quite on the money! The alligator plant is a close relative I think. Haase, I haven't completely drifted away from brugs. Just two days ago, I put a couple of brugs in the ground that had been "hibernating" in a dark shed. I didn't want to leave them in the ground over the winter. My in-ground brugs just require too much water to bloom like they do for you all. Also, this year, they took quite a beating from our single cold snap. The drought tolerant plants are soooo carefree and showy! I've fallen for Agaves and Aloes. There are so many varieties to choose from too.

Beautiful! Every year I'm blown away by the sheer mass of blooms the pink "primroses" put on --Oneothera speciosa. Don't throw things at me. Sure, they're invasive, but in the right spot, they're priceless. I needed them to cover slopes of caliche in full sun--and look pretty, with no water or care--& they do it in spades. Make sort of a living mulch, keeping the soil moist & cool for the roses & other things planted within them. I tried the beautiful cerinthe, but it croaked. Seen the corydalis growing native--hmmm, that's pretty--need to put some in the beds. The regular nemophila (baby blue eyes) & 5 spot make a big show until hot weather. This veronica persica grows all over. Tiny thing, makes shiny green mats just an inch or two high One of the first things to bloom. Sparkling blue flowers. Not unusual, but I love this how this patch of lamb's ear shows off Archduke Charles. There's a purplish penstemon clump behind on the right. And I got inspired to try some of the species tulips (I'm looking at you, Alana :-D--love the pic of you & your Dad). We have too short & mild a winter for the regular ones, but several of the species are supposed to be happy. The T. linifolia was particularly spectacular--weeks & weeks of brilliant color. This whole pot was eventually covered in blooms These little species daffs--N. bulbocodium--are tucked around various rosesSince I'm new to this zone, I throw lots of things out to see if they'll do. Larkspurs, poppies, sweet peas & the native wildflowers have done great.I like lizard tail! Makes me smile just to see the funny possumtail blooms. Smells nice, too. This little native *weed* is 4 nerve daisy, aka bitterweed, (hymenoxys or tetraneuris) It literally blooms all year. Only thing it insists on is full sun. Very nice little plant for the flower garden.

I haven't had time to do the forums much as I'm immersed in refreshing, fertilizing dividing or root pruning all my daylily pots. BUT I had to stop and make a comment on your post. Everything is so beautiful. I really like the Cardinal Rich. rose, although I was never much of an OGR fan when I was growing lots of roses it is lovely and the color is fantastic....What really caught my eye was your Batik Iris. A few years ago I saw one in bloom at a nursery and fell in love. For various reasons I didn't buy it then. Last year I couldn't stand it and ordered it in fall and potted it up. Because you can never just buy one of any plant I bought another Iris variety (Hollywood Nights) at the same time and also potted it up. Hollywood Nights surprised me by not only surviving outside in its small pot, but by blooming as we speak. Batik is alive but no signs of blooming. Since I'm a newbie to Iris, can you tell me if there is a blooms season to Iris like there is daylilies? Has Batik been a shy bloomer for you?..........Maryl

OT is Off Topic, I believe, And I say it certainly is OK to be OT, as we all love the garden pics. I love the two Clematis together, what a great color combo!!! I love spiderwort, it is just a nice blue color.

The clematis is just lovely, especially the Niobe. I just planted Niobe this spring so thank you for the preview as to what mine should look like.

And of course I love the Dutch Iris. I intend to plant Dutch Iris this fall. How long have you had them? I was just wondering if they come back year after year for you.

Niobe is such a dependable bloomer. Always to provide striking and good looking dramatic flowers.

I've only had the dutch iris for 2 years. They were bulbs that got left in their package over the winter (I forgot them.) I planted them this last spring even though I thought they were too old/mildewed to live and the timing was off. I was really surprised to see them come up at all let alone have some of them bloom. So I believe they will put up with a lot and still perform. Hope this helps.

Geez, I planted Dutch Iris this spring myself. Hardly any have come up. I intend to do it right this fall and plant new ones then so hopefully I get bloom the following spring. I love dutch iris, they are just so pretty. Kay has a bunch of them also and posts pictures usually to make me go bonkers LOL :-))

VERY Pretty KIM. Ilove the CLEMATIS. I have that Red one, too.Mine all bloomed earlier and finished for now.They will bloom later in the year again.I planted about 14 this spring, that I grew from seeds,so its going to take a while before they get going good.The Dutch Iris are pretty.I use to have a lot of them, too, but, these men my daughter has sent here from time to time to cut my grass, also cut the iris down too, so this year I have not seen any come up..

Love the color combination with the clematis. Very pretty! I've never tried dutch iris but they are beautiful.
