Degroot's Spire Reverting?

mcmarion

I am having reoccuring trouble with Thuja o. Degroot's Spire trying to revert. Has anyone else also experienced this? The foliage in question occurs along the main trunck of the plant. It is occuring in the new growth as well as in the older branching. The foliage that is reverting is more open, thin, light in color, and has a different branching structure and a matte finish rather than the shiny, lush, full, fine, curling nature of the Degroot's foliage on the bottom. The plants are approximately 3 years old and older, not grafted, and grown in containers. This phenomenon is not showing up with the plants grown in the ground. It occurs all along the plant, not just at the top. I have some photos of the Degroot's in question to aid in the description, if you would like them just email me and I will forward them to you.

Also, does anyone have problems overwintering and die back in containers?
