Bye, bye Kitty Boots you sweet funny furry person. How sad to lose a pet when they've been a member of the family. He found somebody to love him and he loved them back. I know he was happy and had the best of care.

It seems that the best pets are the ones we don't go out and find, they are the ones that find us. We have been adopted by several cats who had chosen us to be their people. We lost a sweet boy who came into our life as a full grown stray, neutered and with impeccable manners. We named him Tramp. He chose my husband to be his "special person". One morning, my granddaughter found him, he had died in his sleep, in seemingly good health. The Vet said he had had a heart problem and was lucky to have lived as long as he did. We are so blessed to have God's creatures come into our life. Kitty Boots was one of those special cats. I am sure there is a special place in heaven where pets and their people are reunited.

We also had a stray come into our lives that i loved so much!! no one else loved him but me. i believe he had been abused. he did not like men, anyway, we lost him around christmas.i had him 5 yrs. my rabbit died the day before christmas and about a month ago my beta fish died. i had an unusual attachment to that fish. i think soap got left in the bowl water. it's horrible when we love something like that an lose them!! my dh doesnt understand my attachments. now, i've bonded with our new parakeet who loves to ride around on my head while i cook. we still have 3 other cats. one is 10 but she is very healthy. I am very sorry for your loss!

Here we go again...it is so ironic how much we have in common.

Sorry to hear about Kitty Boots. I know he had a wonderful life with you and your parents. Our cat, Jodie, went to kitty heaven a week ago Thursday. She was 15 years old and in poor health. She was a sweet cat and it was sad to see her decline over the last few months.

I'm sure Jodie and Kitty Boots are having a grand time in heaven with your parents and mine.

I still find myself looking for her in the mornings when I come downstairs to make coffee.

Thankyou each for your kind sentiments. I feel like there is a big space left that KB occupied for so many years. We have had a good time remembering all his "antics".

My brother was very upset when I had to tell him. He has not been to visit in quite a while due to ill health after spending so much time in N.O after Katrina. He is the one who "found" KB. He has his own kitiies in NYC. I will get to meet them next month when I visit.

I'm so glad your family rescued KB and gave him such a nice life, and sorry for your loss. Once we start loving them, it's hard to let go when the time comes.

Sorry about Kitty-Boots, let's hope she has met IcePop, our adorable, vocal, sweet little black kitty who we lost just 2 weeks ago to kidney failure. She loved to lay under the yews out front, or on the brick wall on sunny mornings in winter. Always there to "help" when we were gardening.

I'm sorry Caroline, I don't know how I mixed you up with Kathy. (Have been feverish off and on all day, is that a good excuse?!) So many kitty pets have passed on recently, my sympathies to each of you.

Sorry for your loss. Pets warm many nooks and crannies of our hearts, homes, and gardens. Perhaps a new kitty will find a home in your garden some day.

We lost our cat Rocky to cancer last October. He was an indoor kitty, but loved to sit in the windowsill and watch the birds and chipmunks in the garden. I put a small concrete plaque in the garden and planted pink pussytoes and catnip around it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. As much as it hurts to lose one of our furry children, wouldn't life be far less sweet without their blessed company?

Kittyboots was lucky to have found such a wonderful family to love. I know you'll miss him terribly.

I am SOOOO sorry and so sad for you! So many people in this group are animal lovers and have loved and lost our special friends.. I lost my "Friend" 2 years ago now and I'm really only now startnig to heal I think..

Kitty Boots and all these other lost friends were very lucky to have such loving homes and live as long as they did. I am sorry to hear of everyone else's losses too!

Just the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, all our friends wait for us..whole again..healthy and happy just waiting to see us again. :)

PS- you should consider planting something in her memory. I did that for my lab 2 years ago and it remains a very special source of comfort for me.

May you find happiness and joy and peace in your memories and knowing what a good home & life you gave her.

I cry as I read about Kitty Boots. I have lost 2 yellow and orange tabbies, one a sudden illness, the other in a house fire. Perhaps Kitty Boots will play with my Harry and Peyote in heaven as they wait for us. I am so sorry for your loss.

That reminded me of my Earl. My dear Earl was a pound kitty, a mere 5 weeks old. He was due to be euthinized because "he bit a girl"...give me a break! Anyway, I convinced the shelter to let me adopt him. They wouldn't release him until he was "tutored". How can they do that to a 5 week old kitten? Two days later after he was "tutored" I brought him home. He became soooo ill...off to the vet...Earl has distemper, from the shelter, plus he was too young to be "tutored". For weeks I nursed Earl and injected fluids under the skin. He grew fast and was the sweetest little guy in the world. Because of the neurological damage from distemper Earl walked like a drunk. 2 years later he became very ill and he didn't make it.

Funny thing about Earl was every evening when he came home he set off the light sensor in front of the garage. That's how we knew he was home. After Earl died, that light went on and off - all night - for days. We finally had to turn it off.

BTW - I had a cat very much like your KB when I was a little girl. His name was Jackie Noel Tah Tah (+ our last name). My brother gave him to me on Christmas Eve. (He was a very fuzzy kitten). But we mostly called him "Tah Tah". It's a long story about the name and his life story.

It's been two years since my best friend left this world for the next, and I still miss her terribly... she was a gift from my husband, a 25 year veteran breeder... her name was Minerva, Minnie for short, and she was my companion, protector, bed buddy, and travel mate... we were inseparable. She developed cancer, although she was rather old, and the hardest thing to do was let her go.

I could never live with myself if I allowed my best friend to suffer, and so I elected to give her the pain-free peace she so richly deserved... she's greatly missed, and maybe someday we'll meet again...

Geez - I shouldn't have read this either. Here I am sitting at the dang computer with tears running down my face!! I am such a sop when it comes to pets :-))

Caroline, I feel your pain also. It's only been two weeks since I had to put down my 18 y.o.(!!) best friend Cocker spaniel Chamois, and I still listen for her snores every night and miss her furry body keeping my feet warm under my desk. This is the first time in my adult life I've been dogless and the hole she left is huge. Fortunately, her feline buddy Pounce is there to help pick up the pieces, but he seems to miss her almost as much as I do so we do our best to console each other.

I know from past experiences it does get to be less of a pain over time but it's very hard at first and you have my deepest sympathies. All my departed pets live on in my memories and I remember them all and their quirks and individual personalities with great fondness. They have all made my life so much richer with their too short stay on this earth.

A number of years ago we lost out cat Oreo. Yes he was black and white also. This AM my daughter, knowing that we were upset by Momma's KB passing gave me a wonderful photo of me and my Mom taken at Christmas in 2002 and a picture of Oreo in his fave chair...which happened to be Boots fave chair too. I cried and cried at missing them all.
