Identify this Clematis please?

Here are some pictures I just took of my New Dawn Rose and Clematis at the back of my old rose garden. Isn't it just beautiful this year? I am thrilled how it has recovered and blooming this year. However, I do not know the name of this Clematis. It was supposed to be a Nellie Mosier. Well, it isn't a Nellie, that's for certain.

Any help you can give this novice Clematis grower will be much appreciated.

Looks similar to Mme. Julia Correvon, which is classed as a group C, the flowers are 3-4", red, blooms June -September, mature height 8-14'. If not you might find a match in the link below.

Can't tell you the exact cultivar - absolutely too many to choose from - but it is a large flowered hybrid and if blooming now, in pruning group 2. Group 3's bloom later and group 1's do not include any LFH's - only species clems. Pruning group 2 clems do not require much pruning but if desired, they can be hard pruned like group 3's to simplify pruning chores. This just tends to push back the bloom season a few weeks.

Thanks... yesterday, I suddenly realized that I probably had my marker in the wrong place! It is definitely the Omoshiro that I moved last year, after it bloomed, and I must have put the marker on the wrong plant... so that was easy! thank you for your replies and the Omoshiro people get a medal! Now, I must research that other one and see if it is in fact Proteus. My yard is very open, with a street on either side, so I have put up a 7 ft plastic lattice and will have my 30 odd clematis climbing up to make a spectacular wall of privacy... should look good in about two years...

It looks like Mme. Julia Correvon, but it is blooming right now. Always blooms in May.
The colours above are accurate.

Wow, Annie, that's a beauty! And it looks fabo with your ND. I used to have ND but she got too big for the spot she was in. Actually, I still have her since I didn't get all the roots out and she insists on shooting out a few canes every now and then.

I have a few clems that were mislabled, too. Did you try the Clematis forum? There are lots of knowledgeable clem growers over there always ready to help.

Btw, do you have a full pic of the whole arbor with ND and the clem? Would love to see it!
