Comments (17)hardy geranium are very easy from seed - this was a revelation for me a couple of years ago - although given pratense's rampant seeding about, I dunno how I hadn't realised this before. Anyway, pros and cons of sowing your own cons - as these types are not sterile (obvs), it is unlikely to get a super-long flowering variety of the likes of Rozanne. Nor do many named varieties come true from seed (even if they set them). Pros - obviously, an easy and cheap way to fill many a border. Often quite unusual varieties, including, some of the less hardy types such as maderense, palmatum, and my favourite this year, Rambling Robin, hybrids between robustum/incanum (Silver Cloak is also one) with lovely filigree glaucous foliage. Many unusual varieties such as G.platyanthemum, G eriostemon and the easy G.wallichianum, including a pink Rozanne type, Syabru - try Plantworld or Chiltern seeds(both of who ship to the US). Very easy - nice big seeds, easily sown in modules, very reliable requiring no special heat/light situations - very amenable to winter-sowing....See MoreWANTED: Sorry for late post -- trade list for Oak Mt. Comments (2)Hi Squirrellypete, I would LOVE to have one of your 'Honeycomb' Butterfly Bush (rooted cuttings) 'Black Knight' Butterfly Bush (rooted cuttings) 'Corries Gold' Gaura (rooted cuttings) I have at least 2 of the hot pink azaleas (see pictures) potted up (others I will be getting this summer/fall from under the big ones) and several different colors of bearded iris. I KNOW I could easily pull up/divide the dark gold and the pink that are pictured in my plant galleries (link below) - The rest i will be dividing and moving this fall. Follow subgalleries by type of plant....now bear in mind, the azaleas ARE babies - but they have been potted up for over a year now and have good roots. Let me know please, b/c I won't pull the irises out except by request. Rosemary Here is a link that might be useful: My plants...See MorePlease help ... Will this geranium survive?
Comments (4)Gardengal, Thank you so much for your response. It is much appreciated. I had to look up what a pelargonium is - I don't believe mine is one. I have the Cranesbill Rozanne which I understand to be quite hardy. I hope your cheerful message extends to these plants too although the above-ground part of my decapitated geranium is looking quite woeful this morning. I'm not worried about uniformity of appearance this season - they are all uniformly scraggly in their beds at this point; I wanted to know if my less-than-gentle garden behaviour will cost a poor plant its life simply because I couldn't bring myself to be more careful. I hope it will survive long term and so far what I assume from your message is that it might do. Is that fair for a cranesbill too?...See MoreDawn G.
