Chinese evergreen is the answer. They tolerate low light better than most other plants. You might also want to consider setting up a desk lamp with a CFL in the 6500K range to offer a bit more light and give you some more options.

I'm looking for seeds from these two plants: chlorophytum comosum (Spider plant), full green leave variety. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorophytum_comosum Zamioculcas zamiifolia (ZZ plant), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zamioculcas. These two common house plants are too easy to propagate from cuttings. For this reason it is very rare to find vendor that sells their seeds. Thanks for the reply. When you say "throw all that out," do you mean just the soil, or dump the whole plant? Watering - I found tons of conflicting info online, ranging from let the top 2" dry to let the whole thing dry. Tried to split the difference by letting it dry halfway, but the truth is I was pretty lax so it probably ended up close to all dry in most watering cycles. I did have some trouble assessing moisture, though, since the wooden skewers I use oft end up poking into the ZZ's tubers, so I'm wary of probing soil. It is almost always it's growing conditions that cause it to fall over not the depth of the soil. Most common problem is over-watering. These plants can go for a long time without water. It can also be due to not getting enough sunlight. They do tolerate shady indoor location, but do best in bright indirect, even direct light. Other reasons can be extreme under-watering, cold, trauma, excessive fertiliser. Indoor plants do not require a lot of fertiliser. You want to encourage compact growth with bright light, infrequent watering, and very little fertiliser. If you provide these three things you are less likely to have them fall over. You can stake them, as long as you do not put the stake through the bulb like root. Tie the branch to the stake. If the growing conditions are good, you should eventually be able to remove the stake.
