Fat Albert Blue Spruce lower branches dark rest bright blue - why

I have a few Fat Albert Blue Spruces on my property, have noticed as they mature the lower branches (e.g., bottom 1/4 of the tree) are turning a dark dingy color whereas the rest of the tree (top 3/4 of tree) is the nice bright blue they're accumstomed to have. Any idea why the lower branches are dark and dingy looking? Trees all look very healthy otherwise, full of branches which are full of needles.
