yes - you can do it. Or you can give them a feed with a weak solution of the fish emulsion or manure tea or alfa alfa tea - weak is the word - or you can give them an epsom salt supplement - I guess 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. Or all the above. Or nothing at all. The most important thing is to keep a good eye on the plant - because tired look, loss of shine on the leaves, droopiness - it can be a sign of root rot - and the plant is going to keel over very soon. So - investigate the stem at the soil level and slightly under - and if it is it - cut the crown, remove the big leaves and reroot. good luck Irina

Pressed4time, Nice work! I wish now I had kept a photo log of all the pressings I have done over the years. I have only kept the blue ribbons for fair/event entries. Adam, one of my favorite pressed flower makings were when all my friends and family got married, I would ask for flowers from the centerpiece and cake if they used flowers. Press them and made a framed item such as pressed4time showed for lasting bouquet for the bride and groom. Another fun year I pressed queen annes lace, put glitter on them and placed on a blue background looking like snowflakes for a Christmas card. I have never decoupaged, but I have used pressed and the same dried flower on top to make a 3 dimensional framed piece using convex glass. Bookmarks and cards out the whazzo. Put flowers or leaves on candles.Fall leaves look great glowing. Buy the way, flowers from cherry trees press excellent and keep the pretty pink color.

I live close to Disneyworld and the Polynesian resort has a lot of Plumeria trees on the property. Well my roommate has an obsession with them and has gotten me quite obsessed myself. I picked a few blooms and took them home but I forgot to take them out of my truck, leaving them on my dashboard. They stayed in my truck for about a day in the sun and the next morning for work I noticed they had shriveled up and dried out. They shrunk in size but their color and fragrance were preserved. This is the best way I found to preserve the blooms. I've tried pressing them but in doing that it tends to make the petals paper thin and they turned a bit brown as well. I've taken to drying them in the car with natural heat works best and I've now got quite enough to use as homemade potpourri. Hope this is helpful for you. They look awesome and definitely bring a nice touch to my home decor. And it's been pretty fun for my nieces to do when they come to visit

Hi! I know this really has little to do with your question, as far as drying, but have you or anybody else taken dried pressed flowers and made pendants from them (ie.: by attaching them to stained glass or mylar and a stable surface)? I have seen a project illustrated on tv. where they had adhered the flowers to stained glass and wrapped the border with stained glass foil to make suncatchers, but not pendants. I have also heard that exposing the flowers to direct light or placing them under acrylic will fade and destroy them. I would love to hear from those of you who do pressed flowers... I enjoy using pansies. We have them in our area. They hold up very well and have vibrant colors. I also enjoy making flower wall-art using wedding cards as a matting. Sometimes I cut the cards apart and use only pieces. They look really dainty!..I use the blotter paper and phone books also. I don't have too much of a problem with mold. However, if I'm too anxious or use too bulky of a flower, they get moldy. I wonder if letting them dry out for just a short period before you place them in the phone book might work. Have you ever placed the phone book near an indirect lighting source? Do you have Master Gardener's in your area? Sometimes they do crafty projects. Maybe they could offer suggestions.
