Mary, I think spring is the best time for my garden as the native dogwoods and redbuds add so much to the overall effect. Some of these trees I nurtured from tiny seedlings. Its hard to believe that the whole area I garden was once just a patch of mostly cedar trees. I did dig the ponds myself. Eden I have not had the white dicentra seed around yet. This year has been so much better than last year because we have had sufficent rain so far. I still have so many projects to finish up though. I'm trying to get to a lot of them before hot weather hits. I'm not as good in the heat as I used to be. Last year I was ready to throw in the towel after a few drought years. I seem to have renewed spirit this year. I think I will try to do more with what I have ( dividing and propagating) and not let the pot ghetto get to big. LOL. I had to wrestle two fairly large shrubs out of the vegie garden because I stuck them there out of desperation. It was hard to find the sunny spots they required. Thanks everyone for the comments.

carolyn, i grow alot of bulbs but few tulips(the Parrots I really like aren't perennial but i put in 2 doz every yr anyway.) i plant lots of narcissus; many kinds.i always plant muscari as 'marker bulbs' with ALL my bulbs. muscari re-send up their foliage in the fall and that foliage keeps me from accidentally destroying hidden bulbs that are already planted . The bulbs that I have the most of are: blue scilla hispanicas; allium bulgaricum (old name for alliums DTD sent photo of); and ornithogolum magnum. these latter are very striking 2 1/2'tall white flower spires that provide long flowering and intermittent vertical spikes of color.they are so very useful for popping in wherever you want a lovely tall wand to alleviate the boredom of a similar-height planting.the other two bulb types serve the same purpose though they are of different color and height. Because i plant large quantities of these 3 bulb types, i buy all three of the above- from Van Engellen (sister co. of Scheeper's)which sells these in minimum quantities of 25 and 50 i believe. The price of their bulgaricums is WAY less than other co's. the last 2 years i have really enjoyed doing 2 small plantings of allium schubertii, which have these amazing humongous airy starlike lavender spheres. In front of a rich green chamaecyparis they are a real romantic knock out. best, Mindy

Hello ladies and happy every Holiday I missed. To those of you who do know me, I am back and mentally back on track (I think). To those of you who don't, well I was I am a member, love everyone here. Went away to do some great mission work and had some very tragic things happen. Many hours of therapy later, and actually returning to the Dominican I think I have healed, I am not bitter, sad, or frightened to leave my house any more. I am able to talk about it and I feel that I can share with postive feelings now. But enough of that. Am I to late for April? Please tell me that I can play in April? Max is 4 and we just looked at Co-op preschool. HE is a mama's boy and didn't want to go to big boy school yet. Maryanne~ I have a box for you that I need to send, but um lost your address.. So Merry Christmas when it comes. Ahh. I just don't know what to say or who to say it to because I am scared I will leave someone out.
