Have:

Espaliered multi-apple tree. One branch each of: Red MacIntosh, Gravenstine, Lodi, Granny Smith, plus one mystery branch that looks as though it might have grown off of the graft host. The top is broken off and it needs some TLC. Will only bring if someone asks for it.

*strawberries (unknown cultivar or species)

*Sitka spruce saplings (dang near deer-proof!)

*burning bush seedling (only 1, in 4" pot)

*Styrax japonica (Japanese snowbell tree), 4" pots

*currant, seedlings of culinary cultivar, in gallon pots

I would love to get some Forsythia, burning bush, Styrax japonica..if you have one to spare, what color is Bergenia? I have one plant with red flowers. Please let me know if there is anything in particular you are looking for. I will update my list in a day or two.

Dear Caitlin, Lynda posted to the Green Elephant string yeseterday, that she has two forms of sunchokes, which is a perennial sunflower/vegtable. Last year she brought them too. I don't know how she does it, but these things are the size of potatoes. And I have never seen them in two colors red or white (the tubers that is. Dear Plantknitter, 1) How many of each kind of tree do you want? 2) RE: dahlias: no need to buy or bring dahlias for the swap. I know that you always bring many interesting things, especially the saxifrages. 3) The Hmong farmers do raise other perennials. I asked Bee Cha, of the Cooperative Extension Service if they needed other plants. He said it's only dahlias that were destroyed. Bee will attend the Green Elephant. hi Jim, I am coming to your Green Elephant swap this year and I'm so excited to do so! I missed it last year, much to my distress. I am very interested in your angelica. I have some hardy bog plants (Pitcher plants of different types)that I can trade. I also am getting ready to divide some Pinguicula in the greenhouse if you are interested in something a little less hardy. I also have some flowering plum trees, the purple leaf/pink flower variety, that are a few years old but still small enough to pot and bring. I probably have some hostas too, and maybe some other trees. What are you looking for in the tree and hosta departments? I have many, many hostas. (a bit of a hostaholic,I'm afraid) Are you looking for small or tall? Also, what type of prairie plants are you looking for? I've got a number of different plants that could fall into that category - heleniums, echinaceas, penstemons, agastaches, some grasses. You can dmail me through Daves Garden or reply here. Teresa - per my e-mail, I am setting aside the apple tree, Pampas grass, and some kaffir lilies for you. Don't know what my Mom would like, although I know she likes iris and daylily.

Vinita - Am setting aside a forsythia and a Styrax japonica for you. I know I have a burning bush in a 4-inch pot, but by now it is just a leafless twig, so if I don't have it labeled, it might just have to wait until spring. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Frani - Will miss you at the trade, but I can wait until the next trade for the Solomon's seal. I have plenty other plants to get planted in the meantime.

Vinita - I found a burning bush! As for the bergenia, I don't know what color the flowers are because they've never bloomed for me. I had them planted in shade, so that might be why. I suspect they are the standard deep pink, however.

I would love to get some kinnickinnick. I will have a handful of mundane boring plants to trade -- wooly thyme, kew winter creeper, and a bunch of sedums.

Pianojuggler, will bring some kinnickinnick, however it's spelled. Arctostaphylos uva-ursi - I know how to spell that!
