Two bad days in a row

I just need to vent. I thought it would be a good week, but I Was wrong.

Yesterday the company gave me a promotion. The only thing is senority is everything in our company and it's not my turn. Greivences will be filed, ammendments will be made and my promotion will soon be demoted. They put me in a spot. The company has never done this type of thing before. DH is president of the Union. It puts him on the spot. This company likes to play.

And today my 16 year old was supposed to go for his road test. We get there and the intructor notices that we have overlooked getting new stickers on our plates. I went to SGI and inquired about getting some. They refused to let me do anything because of "the privacy act". After a phone call to DH and him phoning SGI, I got the stickers. But it was too late for the road test. If there is a privacy act, how do they know it was him on the phone?

So what will it be tomorrow?

In all respect it is still better than last week. We got close to 18" of snow and the roads were officially closed. My son had to cancel his first road test. And my 6 year old daughter tried to get beheaded. She went down the hill at school in her crazy carpet, hit a bump and headed towards some benches that had been left at the bottom of the hill.

Her chin and neck stopped her when she hit them. Unbelievably nothing serious happened.

Is anyone else having a crazy month?

I feel better already.

It just seems really long to me. I keep looking at the birthday bulliten board outside the library and thinking, "Is it STILL October?" Usually January is the month like that. I hope this is not an omen of things to come! LOL

Shelley, things always get better. Maybe it's a good thing your son hasn't gotten his license yet! Glad to hear your little girl is okay - another good thing!

It'll be November in a week. :)

(Which reminds me - i need to get a birthday present for my son-in-law!)

Our little goober came down sick today...nothing too serious I suppose...but still not fun. Other than that most things are good...oh yeah...and DH's crazy ex has the insurance company investigating us for arson on her new mini van... :-P Oh well...that may turn into a good thing...she's nuts enough she likely did it herself and to try and get DH in trouble...if that's the case, the insurance guys will be the ones to find it...they're pretty clever...and they really don't like insurance fraud.

Shelley, I'm glad your daughter's ok...that must have been scary! Good luck to your son on his drivers test.

ggg -- We are in Macon, but we get up to Atlanta a couple of times a month. We will definitely check out the Glenwood Park project. I so-o-o-o-o understand how you feel about your drainage project taking forever. We just got our big patio built last year and I can't even WADE out there to get patio furniture put togther...OR plant anything, because it is so soggy and icky. Deep ruts from tractor tires that filled up with water over the winter and etc. And, our drainage guy actually is having trouble getting his on-foot crew out there to do his thing too. Sigh... pam 3 -- Yes, that's what I was sort of wondering if I could do...maybe put some large grasses or shrubs right around the start of it, to sort of "disguise" the fact that our newly installed drains are dropping off into it, etc? I will check out esh's link too. If we don't dry out pretty soon though, I won't be doing ANYTHING. Our friend with the tractor doesn't mind helping to dig, but at this point, he can't even drive the tractor OUT there to dig because it's such a sloppy mess. :( Your project sounds really nice. I hope ours lives up to the idea in my head!

Moc and I have another thing in common and I will have to try the Vasoline. Thanks for the tip irawon. I'd recently boought this really nice sized hosta in a 5 gallon nursery pot and planned to repot into a larger pot to overwinter. When I started working to get it out of its pot it was so big and heavy I decided to try planting it, thinking of what it will be like next year in a bigger pot. Connie & Phil: I share your problems and am rehabbing from knee surgery. So nothing has been planted this year, just potted. I had to do something since I had gotten the big hosta out of the 5 gal. pot so I carefully crossed my mole disrupted lawn to my shed and got out my post hole digger. It took me almost 3 hours to dig a hole big enough for the root ball and soil ammendments. The ground was so hard and dry, sweat stung my eyes and I had to rest a lot. But I got it done. Then I paid the price for two days after with muscles cramping in every part of my body, having used muscles ina way I haven't used since last year. Keep the chin up Connie and Phil. It could be worse. Drought is a gentle scorge compared to tornadoes and hurricanes. Hopefully next year will bring us more even precipitation and less heat. Just be careful Phil. When I was laying on the ground for a half hour waiting for someone to see and help me get up I realize how fragile we are. It has caused me to redirect my life, but not stop loving my hosta gardens. Hi Nyce, It was bright red and a lot of it. That is why I went to the ER for it. And I am glad they did not have to break my nose, what a horror show you went through. But I had no cold nor had been taking any sinus type medication and probably in the last 30 days had taken all of four aspirin. Two the Monday prior and probably a week before, only take aspirin for bad headaches, which I don't have very often. Spoke with my pharmacist and he thought I might be allergic to aspirin, which I would not have connected due to the time lapse in between the nosebleed and the last aspirin that I took. I figured that three days would be a long time for it to linger in my system. But I will take his advice and not use it and just stay with other headache type medications, when needed. And it think the only reason I needed it lately was all the pollen and weather changes, that had given me a couple of headaches.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I do have MANY potential replacements that are smaller, but also have a few 5-6 years old ones I can use. I will give it a try in Fall or Spring. Interestingly enough, I think I figured out what happened. I was going to inspect them, see if there was any green under the bark and they literally popped right off the ground, I don't know how they were staying upright, they were broken right above the roots and had been rotting. I had a bit of a flashback that last winter, 2013-2014 winter, I had piled a LOT of snow right in front of them, and my pile got quite high and I had to throw it high. I think I hit those trees directly a few times with heavy, wet snow. They were bending back from the weight in front of them. I probably damaged them then, and they died last year and rotted.

I'm getting or perhaps already there, burned out from work. I really need to look somewhere else for employment. But where in a lit' hick town... Wal~Mart maybe? ;)

Well, I'm with you, Shelley, unfortunately. I'll know more after Nov. 8 but I think I have blown my knee out again - torn medial meniscus (cartilidge). At this point, I'm self diagnosing but I've been through this before and this is worse than the one 2 years ago. I don't know when or how I did it but I cannot walk without severe pain.

I managed to get some mega pain killers from one doctor but I need to see the orthopod really quickly. Here we go again. His office told me I need a referral again and I would be able to see him sometime between January and June (seriously) after I get the referral. If I thought it was an emergency, I could go and wait for him in emerg. I phoned emerg and the nurse, after laughing her head off, transferred me to the cast clinic. Of course they will see me but the earliest I can get to see him is Nov. 20 and I'm on the cancellation list. I did manage to get an MRI booked (on a cancellation) for Nov. 8. In the meantime, I'm keeping it iced and elevated for most of the time. Looks like I'll be in for a lonnnngggg winter.

I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is OK, Shelley. That's a scary type of accident. I've got my 15 and 16 yr old DSs going for their learners' permit these days. The 15 yr. old got his and the 16 yr. old failed. Pleasant times in the homefront these days, I'll tell ya!!

Well, let's keep our chins up and keep smiling. Sometimes that's all you can do.

What a thing to happen, Shauna! I know how bad it hurt when my knee was out last fall, and it was nowhere near what yours is. Owie, owie, owie. Here's hoping you can get some action on it and get it fixed.

Hey, it's an excuse to sit around and watch that web cam! LOL

Make it three. I got called into the office yesterday and the company told me that they made a mistake. So my promotion is gone. I finished my shift yesterday, but today I'm taking a sick day. I've got 18 hrs OT on this check anyways.
Right after my meeting, I applied for a different job within the company. I've decided to try welding. I might as well try something I know really nothing about. I'm tired of being an unrecognized asset.
One good thing about this whole incident is I all of the support that I recieved from my co-workers. We are a close bunch.
BTW, yesterday my 16 year old finally took his road test and passed. I'm happy for him.

Shauna, sorry to hear about your knee. Severe injuries and doctors are never fun.
Sharon, I can relate.
Verena,it's never nice having sick kids. My 6 year old is home from school today. And ex's are so much fun. I don't even want to get started on that subject.

Shelley, glad to hear your feeling better. Did you say welding girlfriend? Good for you!

I've just put an application in for HR, Mangement or Finance for the new Walmart coming to our town in January. IÂm going to see what they have to offer.

Yes, I said welding Sharon. Tomorrow DH and I are going into the shop so I can practise. He welds so I should have a good teacher. Last fall I went over to weld for a week so I have a bit of experience in this field.
I might add that I am not upset about not getting the promotion, but I am mad at how the whole situation was handled. I am mad that the company has no respect for their biggest asset--their employees.
I may be little, but I am mighty. (And very stubborn.)

I didn't start welding until 5 weeks ago. I postponed the transfer because of ongoing health issues. But I am rather enjoying it. I've decided to stay at this new profession. I took my level 2 weld test after 2 weeks and passed, which means that I will only have to take $1.50 wage cut. I am determined to pass my level 3 weld test before the end of the year and then I will be back to the same wage that I was before. I just need more experience with the job before I'll tackle that one.
Welding is kind of like putting icing on a cake. Once you have the knack, your set. There are so many pluses in this new job, that I can't even list them all. The biggest 2 are less STRESS and physically easier.

Health wise, I've been feeling alot better. But I wish those doctors could figure out what the heck is wrong with me.
