Hi All. Sorry I've been away for awhile. -Family passings & such. Winter has effectively devastated my garden, so, being the optimist that I am, I went to the NW Flower/Garden show twice this past week to get my motivation up. I work March 7th, so wont be able to attend the Green Elephant. HOWEVER, I do have a few things that I would like to put out as offerings to people for trades, if interested, and we can swap on a day other than 3/7. Wanteds: I'm still going for tropicaleze theme, with focus on glaucous leaf & black leaf items, or chartreuse. or verigated., flowers that pop in my yard are white, or green. Bananas (would take pups) Brugsmansias (Lost all my biggies), Calla lilies, Cannas, Colocasias, iris, daylilies, black or gold raspberry canes, huckleberries, ferns. Unfortunately, all of my verigated iris has been lost. I gave alot of it out a couple of years ago. If it has done well for anyone who would like to complete the circle with it and schlepp some back to me, I'd appreciate it. I have to trade: bamboos: gold, or thin purple culm that I forgot what it's variety is. Phlox; White (David) Daylilies (varied) passion flower (purple crown, (white constance elliot) siberian iris, (schwann), (?white butterflies?) Maybe able to divide some hostas this year. red rose, (?Parkland series?) still potted& growing well, & maybe some other random stuff.

Dear Katherine, My soul belongs to the prairie. Yes I have seven species of perennial sunflowers. There are many all over N. America. I can bring a piece of lemon queen to the fall swap. I will bring much more to the spring swap, first Saturday in March. Helianthus x multiflorus 'Lemon Queen' is very robust. It is a hybrid cross of some sort, yet is has viable seed. I started with one shoot about 6 years ago. This summer I have hundreds of stalks. It is not invasive. It's a clumper. Regards, Jim

Dear Teresa,

Yes, I am always looking for red cedars. Last year I planted 200 at our church camp. So bring seedlings galore.

My gardens are bursting with abundance this year. I will bring at least one pickup truck load of bareroot perennials to give away.

Please consider bringing "Free Stuff" as there are often newbies at the GE who are thrilled to get shasta daisies etc. Remember when you started your garden?

This early frost may actually be a good thing at least as far as the GE goes! Gets me in the mode to dig and divide. I do definitely remember when I started my garden..not that long ago and all of you filled it in with such great plants. I definitely want to give back :-)

We, too, will be bringing lots of freebies. You folks started our garden 2 years ago and we are both so grateful. I like putting out freebies & then wandering to see what anyone else might have put out.

We'll have:
lilacs (some waist high, some bigger, some smaller)
burnet
some herbs
oenothera
rose campion
columbine
maybe foxgloves
I'm not sure what else-lots of stuff growing here!

I also will bring some seeds, if we're doing that-are we?

Is this year's swap from 10-12 as you've listed in the message about it (I can't post there now as I just did), or from 10-2 as you've listed on the link you provided (your member page)?

My apologies Jim for not making it to the GE. I had every intentions of going...........NEXT weekend!!!! I'm a goof. Hope the rain didn't get the swappers too wet!
