I am a new home owner and lived in apartments most of my life. I might need a little help on how to get things out of the ground without killing them. I want to have a vegetable garden and have a great place for it! Wants: (I would prefer plants but seeds are good too) Trees: Edible nut and fruit bearing. Evergreen type trees or shrubs to be used as a privacy fence. I want to hide an ally on one side, a street on another side. Veggies! I live near a steel mill so no root veggies (onions or potatoes) nothing leafy like lettuce. Nothing with a hard to clean surface like broccoli. (unless they can be grown in a pot) 3a. I would love heirloom tomatoes 3b. Eggplant 3c. Peppers.... I have sweet banana and bell but need some of the hot stuff! For now I will have to send postage but I am willing to trade if you are willing to wait. What I have: What I have came with the house so I am not sure what some of it is. Crab apples. I have a crab apple tree out of control and will need to hack off a branch or ten soon. Seeds will be coming soon but I can try to root some of the smaller branches. Purple and yellow flower things. They are flowering now so you will need to tell me how and when to dig and send. When I find my camera I will show pictures so you can identify them. I have a few hybrid plants I started from seed. 3a. 4th of July tomato I can trade 3 3b. Jelly bean tomato I can trade 6 3c. California Wonder 300 TMR I can trade 6 3d. Sweet banana I can trade 6 Rose bush cuttings I haven't cut them yet but they are overgrown and annoying. Buds are red and pink. None of my stuff is ready to send unless you want me to cut it and send it. Anything I get from you will require instructions.

Hi! Welcome to Garden Web! I thought you might like to know how to place an email link on your member page...so traders won't have to search back for the post when trading. I suggest you go to the bottom of any page here and click on 'Member Pages'. then Edit Preferences. Then using the drop down box, set it to show your email addy to Members only. then check the box to allow others to email you via the forms here at GW. That will place a link on your member page so folks can reach you. You might also want to (while you are there) fill in your state abbreviation...it goes in the same box as the garden zone. I have some Florida azalea and sourwood seedlings -- they probably can't go into the ground until next year though, they are tiny. I have a spare Prairie rose seedling (also small), and will probably have rooted cuttings of swamp rose this fall as well. I am going to try to root some winterberry, beautyberry and blue mist shrub so there will be extras. I dug a sucker of a Carolina rose -- if that doesn't work I'm going to try to grow more from seed, if this drought doesn't keep the hips from maturing.
