Uh... was I supposed to water these over winter?

Last fall I decided to try to save my gorgeous dahlias. I'd never tried it before. So, I took them up and put them in layers in peat moss. They are in my unheated garage with the lid of the container slightly ajar. (There are also a couple of calla lillies in there.)

I thought I was following directions correctly, but I have seen a couple posts about people making sure they don't dry out, checking on them once a week, etc. and I'm worried I was supposed to do stuff with them. :-/

I also dug up my musa bajoo, put the roots in a bag and stuck it in the garage.

Do you think I have ruined my plants?
