You might try the Seed Exchange Forum here on GardenWeb. It seems to be a very active site.

I host a winter seed sowing event in Redmond. January 8, 2011, Noon to 3 pm. It's a combo of seed exchange and winter sowing in prep for spring. Details on my page.

At the Spring Swap several people asked me for seeds from my gorgeous lupine plants (sorry, no pic because I'm on my phone, but they were quite huge, with purple blooms). I did collect the seeds but then forgot to take them to the Fall Swap. If you asked for some, and/or would like some, let me know.

Sent you an email. I would love to be part of the swap also. I live on the east side of the state. For the past several months I have been watching the Pacific NW forum and it seems like its always plants (of course west side of State only). Aren't seed exchanges allowed in this site or is it only for plants?

Thanks for the invite readytogrow, but I am not going to travel all the way across the state for trading seeds. I live in Spokane so it's just not feesible for me to do so but thanks anyway.

There are several options for trading seeds by mail. In many gardening magazines, you will find classified ads where people post what they have or want, their address, and the terms (SASE, for example). Check your local library, newsstand or bookstore for issues.

Call your local County Extension office and see if they know of a local organization that has a seed exchange program. Here in Olympia, we have a community-based organization that collects and distributes seeds. I googled Ã¢ÂÂseed exchange Spokane WAÃ¢ÂÂ and found a program called P.E.A.C.H. (People for Environmental Actions and Community Health) at your local Fresh Abundance Local & Organic Foods, located at 2015 N. Division Street. They had a seed exchange last February, and undoubtedly will have another next spring.

But, by and large, GardenWeb has the largest seed exchange network I have found. The URL is http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/exseed/ Be sure to read the instructions for the exchange site.
