dormant, tetraploid, diploid, evergreen- what does it all mean?

I'm trying to fill in some beds and I thought I'd order some daylilies from Eclectic Gardens as people have recommended it. I'm new to gardening and don't know what I'm doing! What does all this mean?

dormant

diploid

tetraploid

extended

semi-evergreen

evergreen

And what does "Display only" mean on their website? Does that mean I can't order it? What would be the best ones to order? I'm in zone 6 (Utah). Are there some that like being more wet than others? More dry than others? Sun? Shade? Ugh!

Thanks for your help!
