HAVE: Kelso/Longview plant swap May 21

The Kelso/Longview swap will be on 21 May, 10 AM until 2 PM. We will have hot dogs and hamburgers as usual, and pot lucks are welcome but not necessary. I will post directions later or you can e-mail me. I sure hope a lot of you can make it. Don and I always look forward to seeing all of you.

Barb, Teresa said she'd pick up plants for me since I can't come. Potentilla, Melton Fire Scabiosa Hen & Chicks Astrantia major (Masterwort) Tanacetum coccinum (Painted Daisy, Robinson's Mix) several herbs: 6 Hills Giant Catnip, Germander (curly or tall), sweet cicely, any thymes If you want more Sumner Grow I can ask Teresa if I can meet her just off the freeway as she goes south.

We set aside a yucca and a black mondo grass. Wish I could bring more than one mondo grass, but I bought ten plants to divide and sell next spring, so you're getting one that was left over after I filled the flats. We aren't really looking for anything special, but I wouldn't turn down a Russian sage. Oh, and I forgot to tell you - do you remember that plant we dug out of your garden last spring that we couldn't identify? I feel certain it is a catchfly (Silene). It's doing very well. The pulmonaria you dug up for Mom and me are doing very well, too. Some of the baby pulmonarias I've gotten from you in past trades put on a growth spurt this last summer, and have caught up with the plant we dug last May. And the seedling sea hollies you gave me have really grown! Do you have more seedlings?

Hope you all have a great time! Surprising as it is I am declining acquiring more plants this time :o) Staying home as family is leading a retreat at our mountain camp. Dog sitting parents' Ginger who needs 2x daily meds. With our 2 dogs, chickens, ducks, doves, and rabbits as well as Oly swap plants to plant out after working in some more compost. Going to add more greens to my large heap. Promising to not over do it & remember to enjoy the sunshine as well!

Of course newcomers are welcome! We always enjoy meeting new gardeners. I'll post directions about a week before the 21st. The garden will probably not be at its best because of this never-ending rain, but hopefully the swap day will be dry at least. If not, we have a couple of canopies, a large cold frame and my husband's shop to take refuge in.

Alas, it's looking like I will be in Pasco that weekend. So won't be able to attend. I'm not a new gardener, but fairly new to plant trades. I attended the Olympia spring trade 2 seasons ago but have missed them since. I do alot of winter sowing, and my hubby built me a green house a year ago, so have lots of seedlings this year. Hopefully I will meet you all sometime in the future. I live just north of you in Winlock.Thanks for the invite. Connie.

I don't know if I can get off work, but I will try. Tell Don that the ferns I gave him marked "Autumn Fern' and 'Maidenhair Fern' are not either. It seems the nursery sent me the wrong ferns. I think the cinnamon ferns are actually cinnamon ferns, but they were shipped separately. I'm working on an ID for the other 2, but I may never know their true identities. I will buy fern plugs from a reputable nursery and set aside some for him at a future trade.

Tammy, I sure hope you can make it to the swap. It just won't be the same without you and Marie! About the ferns, Don says he hopes you can make it - he has a fern for you. LOL Actually, I don't think it makes a bit of difference to him. He just enjoys having the ferns in his garden, and he's too old to remember names anyway.
