I have lots and lots of seed pkts to trade & give away. going to take me awhile to list them on my page. looking for crimson clover and tobacco to trade.

Possibly worth bringing up this post again - I have two raised garden beds and intermix plants, with an eye not to put competetive plants or plant enemies close to each other. I find the plants are bigger, healthier and support each other, providing shaded soil and leaves, and planting closely provides weed suppression. Given that I'm in a hot dry climate, it makes sense. Plant further apart when you need to catch every ray. I find that I have fewer pests when I plant like nature and less like a clinical trial. It It's no good for commercial or large scale, but feeds hubby and I to repletion. Herbs, flowers and veg, all intermixed. When something goes or is harvested, I feed that area and put compost and/or manure there and plant in something else that would likely follow if I were doing rotation. Rows just give the caterpillars and slugs a good 'Roman Road' to follow, munching all the way! Intermixing brings all the predatory species that clear up the pests right into the area that they're wanted instead of being somewhat close-ish. It works for me in my area!

I live in a drought area and I find with tomatoes that you really just need to mulch a lot and the same with peppers. I water both every two weeks by irrigation. Most people do not believe me since it is well into the 100s by May. You are right in the respect that many plants types do better in the heat than do others. I have just done trial and error over the years and by doing this thrown away seeds where I notice that they do not hold up under the drought like conditions of the Southwest. So like on tomatoes, I would never grow the Ponderosaa, as they do so poorly here. I would grow Rutgers instead. You will also have better luck purchasing seeds from Southwest seed houses such as Willhite or Native Seed Search down in Tucson. I know that melons of all types are supposed to love the heat, yet I have planted the fancy stuff from Baker Creek only to have it sun scald and dry up under the heat and drought like conditions, yet my everyday cantaloupes are doing just fine. Feel free to contact me for seeds if I can help you with drought tolerant types, otherwise get catalogs from these two companies and I think you will be very pleased.

Wow, i was so exciting Sunday when I got home and was able to go thru all the wonderful seeds I received in the swap that apparently I posted my THANKS to Lisa in the wrong swap thread! geez! SO sorry about that. My post/thanks below -- Wow, Lisa! I am overwhelmed! I got home today and the first thing I did was go for my package of seeds from the swap. I am astounded by the variety and the ABUNDANCE of seeds. I have traded with others, but this is my first offical swap, and I was happy just to get a trade for the packets of seeds I sent, and maybe a few other seeds, some things that I didnt have/new things to try. I go more seeds via bonuses/extra seeds that you and others were so kind to share, and some I have really wanted to try, and others I'm not sure what they are yet (gotta goggle them) I want to thank you for all your hard work and all the goodies! Now I have to think about what I'm going to WS SOON! This was a terrific swap! I enjoyed meeting/talking to other participants and COUNT ME in for the next one. GREAT JOB, Lisa!!!

Erica, I feel bad about not including edibles but I don't have an extensive stash of edibles{I only grow flowers} and I don't want people to be disappointed with their return package if nothing unusual comes in. I'll include edibles for those of you who are willing to take a chance :} I'll change it now!

Do you still have any for giveaway? I just joined this morning and although at this time I have nothing to trade I am anxious to start growing. I bought an indoor light system, trays, etc.

I noticed on your seed want list you are looking for comfrey. It grows wild down in the Lower Mainland of B.C. I don't have any seeds right now but you now have a choice. I can send you plants or seeds. The plants I can send out fairly soon or you can wait until after the flowers have gone to seed. It you want plants just let me know how many and how big. They can get quite large. I also have garlic chive seeds it you are interested. Just send me an email.

can you tell me how to collect seeds from Quince? My aunt has a tree in her front yard. I can either collect seeds for you or get some seedlings in the spring/summer. If you don't get any from your trades, at least there will be some coming to you!
