Grew them a couple of years ago from seed I got at the Seed Savers Exchange. They were quite unique and didn't seem to need any care that differs from what you would give to any other type of morning glories.
Oh that is gorgeous, schoolhouse!!! I am so afraid of morning glories because they are almost always so invasive (prolific seed makers where every seed grows). I would be tempted to try it though. That is just lovely! Let us know how it does. Where did you get the seeds?
Hi, Annie. I bought the pack of seeds at the local RKO (Rural King of Ohio) store. It's a farm store and the pack is from Livingston Seed Co.
I thought maybe I would try planting them in a big pot or urn with a trellis to climb on in a corner of the sunken garden, to provide more privacy. There is also a piece of wrought iron fencing in that corner, so I could use that as a trellis, too.
Annie, you can relax! I live where the weed-cousins of this are a menace and choke out anything they can. Like you, I wondered about them and bought a packet of seeds to try (contained in a planter). They were gorgeous and at the end of the season were gone. For me, they served well to climb up a fence and an arbor and didn't take over anything else.
I will check out one of the local Farm co-ops here. I grow Heavenly Blue MG without any problem. It makes seeds, but only one or two of them sprouts, and not until the following year, thank goodness.
