here's what it does if i don't pay attn to it for a couple of weeks. LOL here's what it looks like when i pulled it out, with some long roots. i had to have tabor "my son> hold it up LOL but this is a small one, just to give ya'll an idea what this crud is like. and some have really thick stems!! do ya'll have any idea what kinda grass it is?? by chance and how to kill this stuff?? its all over my garden and everywhere else in my flower beds. i don't want to use any heavy un organic things. so far i've been using newspapers, and i put 5 of them down, overlapping and them things grew right on up through them!! i was never so amazed in my life!! i have some osb down in an area, and it still grows, i don't mean like a month later i lifted the board, i'm talking 3 months later. this is some stuff on steroids!!! LOL its just crazy!!! LOL what are your target plants??

My favorite reds are Black Magic and Ingrid Bergman. Black Magic lasts a little longer but Ingrid has a scent. I did get one perfect bloom off Taboo this year but it's been slow to get going and most of the blooms weren't very well formed. I used Moondance as a white cut rose this year. Even though it doesn't last as long as a real cut rose should it bloomed so often that I could afford to cut a new one every few days. And it smells really good too. My favorite cut rose this year is Marilyn Monroe which is more of a cream color. It lasts a long time and has a nice scent but you should be aware it has nasty thorns. I'm ordering a bunch more cut roses from Palatine. They have a really good selection and will state expected vase life. They're roses are really large and healthy too.

there's actually ANOTHER rose growing in there. I just noticed it. what. it's really really cool, too, it was yellow and orange and looked like a little blossoming fireball at the end of a stem. never seen one like it. if I could root THAT one... man... I've counted what should be at least five nodes on the thing, too. and I'm talking ROBUST growth, this one's even got another little bud forming. this is awesome. if I change the water frequently and give it some light fertilizer, do you think I've got a chance? it was also pretty much prepared well as a cutting to begin with, the leaves of the bottom few nodes were stripped, but the top node has tremendous growth on it. think I should re-cut the stem or just leave it? it was cut several weeks ago and looks a little bit fuzzy, but I don't really want to mess with it. I think I'll just change the water and stop fretting :)

I thought my John Cabot had bit the bullet (my own fault...I didn't do *any* mulching on it last year...what was I thinking??)...It's had significant die back, but it's decided to take off now. (YEAH!!) Mom gave me another Cabot and a Morden Centenial for Mother's Day this year and yesterday I bought a Pink Grootendoorf (I couldn't resist...I just love the ruffled edge on the petals). Anyone have tips for the Morden and Grootendoorf? Both are own root. Verena
