Spruce Gall removal - insect development.

A Norway Spruce - a nursery replacement for a tree that had died a year ago - has Spruce Galls. I removed by hand all that I could see but two galls at the top of the tree - including the leader.

Unfortunately the two at the top - because I had to use long shears - fell into the tree and I could not find them.

The question is, as the Gall has been removed from its host source of nutrients, will the insect develop or die? In other words will the two galls I dropped somewhere in the tree eventually release their aphids? Or will the aphids wither and die?
