growing grapefruit in subtropical monsoon climate

Namaste to all.

We have a unique climate here -- latitude of mid-Florida but at altitude (approx 4,500'). So, our summers are hot and muggy with lots of rain and our winters can be mild during the day but hover over freezing at night. We don't have any sustained frosts.

I'd really like to grow honest-to-god grapefruit here and not just the "bokata" that is, I think, something like a palmello. What we have looks, from the outside, much like a grapefruit but what a disappointment. Thick peel, NO juice, no sweet. Dry fleshy citrus. Not too bad with yogurt and some spices but not a "wake my mouth up" grapefruit.

I've read about growing grapefruit in the southern US and think the same ideas probably apply. My concern is the monsoonal rains. I can find a spot that drains reasonably well but we still get a LOT of rain.

Any comments/suggestions very much appreciated.
